Hi, I’m Rebecca - founder of RUFIT and your online Pilates & functional fitness coach
I’m a Cornwall girl at heart, now living life on the French Riviera with my partner and our little boy. Between the sea swims, the sunshine, and the chaos of raising a bilingual toddler, movement has always been the thing that keeps me grounded - and that’s exactly what I want to give you.
My journey started in 2008…
I qualified as a gym instructor and never really stopped studying after that - exercise to music, Zumba, personal training, working with children, team leading, lifeguarding. I was always adding to my toolkit.
But early on, I noticed something. People wanted to get fit and feel better - they just felt too self-conscious and nervous to walk through a gym door. So I took my sessions outside, started personal training in the community, and brought Zumba to people where they already felt comfortable. It worked.
That community spirit took me further than I expected. I taught Zumba in Fuerteventura. Then headed to California to teach Zumba, mountain biking and sports at Camp Whittle - a YMCA camp up in Big Bear. Each experience shaped how I think about coaching: meet people where they are, make it fun, and they’ll keep coming back.
From California, I landed a role as a Senior Fitness Instructor at Champneys in Tring - one of the UK’s most iconic luxury health spas. It was there I really expanded my repertoire: Pilates, aqua, hula hoop, the Da Vinci board, step, and more. But Pilates? That was the one that got under my skin.
Then came the turning point.
I was assigned a VVIP guest who’d requested daily Pilates - five sessions in five days. On day two, they asked if I’d join their yacht for a month. I said yes, took holiday from Champneys, and never really looked back. The owner and crew asked me to stay on full time, and I did - for four years, based in the Mediterranean, teaching Pilates on one of the most beautiful floating offices you can imagine.
During that time I studied reformer Pilates and flew to Thailand to train at a Thai massage school. I spent winters following Madame - the yacht’s owner - with her family, and summers in the Med. It was an extraordinary chapter.
I left when it was time to start a new one: becoming a mum. Even during pregnancy I kept studying, qualifying in pre and post-natal exercise before my son arrived.
What I’ve learned across all of it…
Whether it’s been a nervous first-timer in a community hall, a VVIP on a superyacht, or a spa guest at Champneys - the goal has always been the same. Make exercise enjoyable, so it becomes a sustainable habit that builds real confidence and energy. That’s not a tagline. It’s what I’ve seen work, again and again, across every kind of client.
What I’m up to now…
I teach weekly online classes through RUFIT, host pop-up sessions in Cornwall, and return to Champneys as a guest instructor. And very soon, I’ll be bringing Pilates to the villas and yachts of the Côte d’Azur - which feels like a very fitting next chapter.
Ready to move? I’d love to have you in class.
